ADBC’s core values are gospel centered and built around our three areas of emphasis: Christ, Community, and Cause
God has spoken to us through the Bible and we recognize it as the final authority for our lives.
Discipleship, or the making of disciples, is at the center of Jesus’s call and commission for his followers. We see Jesus call the 12 with the phrase, “follow me and I will make you fishers of men”, and we see him leave them, and us with the commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Where many churches believe discipleship and evangelism are separate realities, here at ADBC we believe they are one in the same. We believe that disciple making happens best in the context of relationships where God’s message of forgiveness through Christ is communicated, and the gospel can be taught and modeled.
The primary ministry of believers is to their family. This should be modeled, supported, and encouraged in church life.
The Supremacy of Christ
It is our ultimate aim at ADBC to treasure Jesus above all else. Centering all of life on Him is the heartbeat of what it means to be a Christian. The supremacy of Christ shapes who we are, what we do, why we do it, and how we do it.
Community is at the core of who we are as a church, and we believe it models the heart of God. In The Great Divorce, C.S. Lewis writes about the aloneness of Hell. The truth is that people who don’t follow Jesus destroy their relationships. They don’t intend to, it’s just what self focus does. The gospel and good news of Jesus Christ is that God’s costly love has opened up a way for us all to join in eternal, life-restoring community. It is within that community that accountability, belonging, care, and spiritual growth are best fostered.
